  • The Lady of the Isles gives a tour of Islay

Christine Logan, a local businesswoman in Islay, gives The Hour a tour of her favourite places on the island.

First up is the Ardbeg Distillery which is well-known for its delicious home baking.

Talking fondly about the top class dishes served there, she said: “Prepare to stand in a queue. It’s worth waiting for because of the quality of its food and the friendliness of the staff, it’s just a great day out, it’s a lovely meeting place.”

Next up, Christine takes us along to see her favourite beach, which boasts seven miles of sand: “(It’s) The most magnificent beach on the island, great for children, great for adults, and it’s so nearby...

“On a wet day, with my raincoat on and hood up, I can wander along here and just leave all my worries behind, taking in the sea air, the sound of the birds - it’s just the escapism, it’s so magnificent.”

The third place on Christine’s list of top places to visit on Islay is Bridgend Woods, which is covered top to bottom in bluebells and is truly magnificent in spring.

Finally Christine shows us where she was brought up on Islay, and admits she never wants to leave the island: "I just feel so privileged living here on Islay, I live and breathe it and I just couldn’t imagine living anywhere else!”
